Body Control Module (BCM) Internal Fault

The Body Control Module (BCM) is like the brain for various electronic systems in the vehicle. It communicates with everything from the lights to the locks. If you see this code, the BCM has realized that something isn’t working properly inside it, meaning it might not be able to control those systems as it should.

The BCM monitors itself for errors and connectivity issues with internal components. When it finds a fault it can’t correct, it triggers the B100A code and may disable certain features to prevent further damage.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 1Check for any visible damage to the BCM and surrounding wiring and connectors. Look for frayed wires or corrosion.
2. 2Ensure the vehicle battery voltage is between 12-14 volts. If not, charge or replace the battery as necessary.
3. 3Using a scan tool, check for additional codes that may indicate which system is affecting the BCM. Note any active symptoms like lights or locks not working.
4. 4If other codes are present, follow diagnostics for those specific systems before replacing the BCM. If no other issues are found, proceed to check the BCM with a dealership or module specialist.
