Body Control Module (BCM) Malfunction

The Body Control Module is like the computer that controls lights, windows, and other electronic features in your vehicle. If it fails, those features can stop working properly.

The BCM monitors various inputs (like switch signals for doors and lights) and communicates with other modules. When it detects a fault that exceeds its thresholds, it triggers code B1011.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Inspect the wiring and connectors to the BCM for physical damage or corrosion. Decision: Is there visible damage? If yes, repair and retest.
2. 22. Check the power and ground circuits to the BCM. Use a multimeter to verify 12V at the power feed and less than 0.5 ohms for ground. Decision: Are the voltage and ground good? If no, repair as needed.
3. 33. Use a scan tool to check for additional codes. Decision: Are there other relevant codes present? If yes, diagnose them accordingly as they may lead to the BCM issue.
4. 44. If everything checks out, consider replacing the BCM and reprogramming it to ensure compatibility. Decision: Is the issue resolved after replacement? If yes, job complete.
