Front Left Door AJAR Switch Circuit

The switch that tells the computer if the front left door is open or closed is having problems, like the wiring could be damaged or the switch itself could be bad.

The body control module expects a signal (usually 0 or 5 volts) from the door ajar switch when the door is opened or closed. If it detects an unusual voltage pattern, it triggers the fault code.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Inspect the door ajar switch wiring for visible damage or corrosion. Repair if necessary. Decision: Is the wiring intact? Yes - go to step 2; No - fix wiring and retest.
2. 22. Check the connector at the door ajar switch for bent pins or corrosion. Clean and secure connector if needed. Decision: Is the connector good? Yes - go to step 3; No - repair connector and retest.
3. 33. Measure the voltage at the door ajar switch with the door closed (should be 0V) and then open (should be 5V). Decision: Are the values correct? Yes - go to step 4; No - replace door ajar switch and retest.
4. 44. Verify the body control module functionality and check for any related fault codes. Decision: Is the module functioning? Yes - issue resolved; No - consider replacing the body control module.
