Driver Airbag Circuit Failure

The vehicle's computer has detected an issue with the circuit that controls the driver airbag, meaning it may not deploy in a crash.

The airbag control module expects a specific resistance value from the driver airbag circuit, typically around 2 to 3 ohms. If it sees a value outside this range or no value at all, it triggers this code.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Inspect the airbag connector under the steering wheel for damage or corrosion. If damaged, repair or replace the connector. Decision: If the connector looks good, proceed to step 2.
2. 22. Check the resistance of the driver airbag circuit at the connector using a multimeter. You should see a reading between 2 to 3 ohms. Decision: If the reading is out of range or no reading at all, proceed to step 3; if within range, check for other codes or intermittent issues.
3. 33. Inspect the wiring between the airbag module and the driver airbag for continuity and shorts. Look for frayed wires or pinched sections. Decision: If wiring is intact, consider replacing the airbag module; if damaged, repair the wiring and retest.
