Wheel Speed Sensor Range/Performance Problem (Left Front)

The computer is seeing unusual signals from the left front wheel speed sensor—it’s either too high or too low compared to what it should be.

The ABS module monitors the left front wheel speed sensor input voltages. Typically, it expects between 0.5 to 12 volts depending on the speed. If the input fluctuates outside this range or drops entirely, it triggers the code.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Inspect the wiring and connectors for the left front wheel speed sensor for damage or corrosion; repair as needed. Decision: Is wiring intact? Yes - proceed to step 2. No - fix wiring and retest.
2. 22. Measure the voltage at the wheel speed sensor connector while the vehicle is driven at a low speed (5-10 mph). You should see voltage change; it should not drop below 0.5 volts. Decision: Is voltage within range? Yes - sensor likely OK. No - replace the wheel speed sensor.
3. 33. Check the sensor mounting position to ensure it's aligned correctly with the tone ring; it should be approximately 1-2mm from the ring. Decision: Is the alignment correct? Yes - further diagnose the ABS module. No - reposition the sensor and retest.
