Brake Control Module Power Supply

The brake control module isn't getting the right amount of power it needs to work properly, which can affect braking.

The brake control module sees a voltage drop below the threshold of 10 volts or over 16 volts at its power supply input. This indicates a fault in voltage regulation or power delivery.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Start by checking all connections and wiring to the brake control module for damage or corrosion.
2. 22. Use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the brake control module connector. It should read between 10-16 volts.
3. 33. If the voltage is out of spec, check the vehicle's battery and alternator. Start by testing the battery voltage (should be around 12.6 volts when off and 13.7-14.7 volts when running).
4. 44. If the battery and alternator are good, inspect the wiring harness for shorts or breaks. Repair any issues found.
5. 55. If all wiring is good, but the voltage at the module is still off, consider replacing the brake control module.
