Fuel Injector Control Signal High Voltage

The computer is seeing high voltage where it expects a normal range for the fuel injectors, which can cause improper fuel delivery.

The engine control module (ECM) is measuring the voltage of the fuel injector control signal. A voltage above 5 volts indicates a fault.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Check the fuel injector wiring harness and connectors for damage or corrosion. Decision: If damaged, repair or replace.
2. 22. Wiggle test the harness while monitoring the scan tool data for voltage changes. Decision: If voltage fluctuates, replace the affected wiring or connector.
3. 33. Measure voltage at the fuel injector connector with the key on and engine off. Expected: 0.5 to 3.5 volts. Decision: If outside that range, proceed to step 4.
4. 44. Disconnect the fuel injectors and measure resistance across the injector terminals. Expected: around 12-16 ohms. Decision: If resistance is out of range, replace the injector.
5. 55. If all checks pass, consider testing or replacing the ECM.

• Shorted wiring to the fuel injector circuit
