Fuel Temperature Sensor A

The fuel temperature sensor is measuring how hot the fuel is, which helps the engine adjust for performance. If it's not working properly, the engine may not run as efficiently or can stall.

The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the fuel temperature sensor signal, expecting it to be within 0.5V to 4.5V range. If it reads outside that range or fails to change with temperature, a fault code is set.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Inspect wiring and connectors to the fuel temperature sensor for damage and corrosion. Decision Point: If damaged, repair or replace. If okay, proceed to step 2.
2. 22. Measure the voltage at the fuel temperature sensor connector with the engine running. Expected voltage should be between 0.5V and 4.5V. Decision Point: If out of range, replace the sensor. If within range, proceed to step 3.
3. 33. Check the fuel temperature directly with a scan tool or thermometer. Expected temperature should be between -40°C to 125°C. Decision Point: If temp reading is accurate but code persists, suspect ECM issue.
