Engine Oil Pressure Low

Your engine oil pressure is lower than it should be, which can lead to engine damage if not addressed. Oil pressure normally should be between 25-70 psi, depending on the engine's operating condition.

The engine control module (ECM) expects an oil pressure signal between 25-70 psi during engine operation. A reading below 25 psi triggers this code.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Check the engine oil level and fill if low. Decision point: Is the level low? If yes, top it off and retest; if no, proceed to step 2.
2. 22. Inspect the oil pressure sensor connector and wiring for damage or corrosion. Decision point: Are connections secure and clean? If yes, proceed to step 3; if no, repair/replace as necessary.
3. 33. Use a mechanical oil pressure gauge to test the actual oil pressure at the engine. Decision point: Is the reading within 25-70 psi? If yes, the sensor may be faulty; replace it. If no, proceed to step 4.
4. 44. Check the oil pump operation and the oil filter for clogs. Decision point: Is the oil pump functioning properly and no clogs found? If yes, the engine may have internal wear; further inspection required. If no, replace the oil pump or filter as needed.
