Oil Pressure Sensor Range/Performance Problem

The engine computer monitors the oil pressure to ensure there’s enough oil circulating for lubrication. If the oil pressure drops too low or goes too high, it triggers this code, indicating potential engine lubrication issues.

The engine control unit (ECU) expects the oil pressure to be within a specific range (typically between 10-85 psi). If the readings fall outside this range, the ECU sets this code.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Check the engine oil level. Is it below the minimum mark? If yes, add oil and recheck. If not, move to step 2.
2. 22. Inspect the oil pressure sensor and wiring for damage or corroded connectors. Do you see any visible issues? If yes, repair as needed. If not, move to step 3.
3. 33. Use a scan tool to read actual oil pressure data and compare it against the expected values. Is the reading within 10-85 psi? If no, replace the oil pressure sensor. If yes, move to step 4.
4. 44. Check the oil pump operation and pressure with a mechanical gauge. Is the oil pressure within specification? If no, replace the oil pump. If yes, investigate for other internal engine issues.
