Class 2 Data Invalid

Your truck's computer saw data that doesn't make sense or is missing from the Class 2 data network, which could affect performance.

The ECM (Engine Control Module) is receiving unexpected values or errors from control modules communicating over the Class 2 network, such as incorrect voltage levels or data patterns.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Check the condition of wiring and connectors related to the Class 2 data network. Look for frayed wires or signs of corrosion.
2. 22. Use a scan tool to see if other codes are present; if multiple errors are flagged, focus on the one that appears most critical.
3. 33. Inspect the battery and check grounds to ensure all modules have a proper return path; a weak ground can cause data issues.
4. 44. Isolate each control module on the network (if applicable) to see if one is causing the invalid data; perform a visual and functional check on each.
5. 55. Clear the code and monitor the vehicle for reoccurrence; if the code returns, focus on the module most recently isolated.
