Engine Oil Pressure - Low

The engine oil pressure should normally be between 25 and 65 PSI when the engine is running. If it's lower than 25 PSI, the system triggers this code, which can mean there's insufficient oil getting circulated.

The ECM monitors the voltage signal from the oil pressure sender. A low voltage reading (below 0.5V) indicates low pressure, and this triggers the code.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Check engine oil level; add oil if low. Decision: Is the oil level within range? Yes - proceed to step 2. No - top off oil and run engine to see if code clears.
2. 22. Inspect the oil pressure sensor connector and wiring for damage. Decision: Are connections clean and secure? Yes - proceed to step 3. No - repair or replace damaged wiring/connectors.
3. 33. Start the engine and use a mechanical oil pressure gauge to measure actual oil pressure. Decision: Is oil pressure reading within 25 to 65 PSI? Yes - code may be false. Monitor vehicle. No - proceed to step 4.
4. 44. Check the condition of the oil filter and replace if clogged. Check the oil pump operation. Decision: Is the oil filter clear and pump functioning? Yes - consider internal engine wear. No - replace oil filter and verify pump operation.
