Clutch Position Sensor 'A' Circuit Range/Performance Problem

The clutch position sensor is supposed to tell the computer how much the clutch is pressed. If it's not working right, the computer can't be sure of the clutch position, which affects shifting and engine performance.

The computer checks the voltage from the clutch position sensor; ideally, it sees a voltage range between 0.5V (clutch released) and 4.5V (clutch fully engaged). If it reads below 0.5V or above 4.5V or has erratic signals, it triggers this code.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Check the wiring and connectors at the clutch position sensor for damage or corrosion. Decision: If damaged, repair or replace; if fine, proceed to step 2.
2. 22. Measure the voltage at the clutch position sensor while pressing the clutch pedal. Expected: 0.5V to 4.5V. Decision: If within range, replace the sensor; if not, proceed to step 3.
3. 33. Inspect the engine control module for any fault codes or malfunction indications. Decision: If ECM shows errors, further diagnose or replace the ECM; if no issues, replace the clutch position sensor.
